The memoir writing retreat with Kim Hope
Every one of us carries stories that have shaped who we are. The memoir writing retreat led by Kim Hope this past year, offered the rare gift of several uninterrupted days to listen deeply to our own lives and discover the meaning held within our experiences. We arrived with stories at different stages of being told—some of us experienced writers, others putting pen to paper for the first time—but quickly discovered that every life holds moments worth preserving. Through thoughtful writing prompts, shared readings, gentle reflection, and supportive conversation, Kim helped us uncover memories with honesty, compassion, and curiosity. We wrote about family, place, joy, grief, belonging, and the unexpected turns that have made us who we are. We found that memoir is not simply about recording the past, but about recognizing the threads that connect our lives and bearing witness to what has mattered. In the quiet rhythm of life at Maison Quaker, surrounded by the beauty of the Vaunage and the companionship of fellow writers, stories emerged that might otherwise have remained untold, enriching not only their authors but all who had the privilege of hearing them.
Kim returns to the Maison Quaker October 11 - 16, 2026. Full details are here...
